POSITION SUMMARY

The Community College of Aurora is a dynamic institution that strives to serve its diverse staff and student population founded on principles of equity and inclusion.The college is seeking a full-time faculty member for the HealthSciencesDepartment.Thisfacultymemberwillberesponsibleforteachingcourses including Phlebotomy, supporting the development and launch of a Medical Assistant program, and contributing to curriculum development and evaluation for current and new programs. This role will also support clinical partnerships and may assist in the exploration of future Health Sciences programs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Instructional responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend, hybrid and/or online courses. Teach students using traditional and contemporary methods of instruction, which may include online, multimedia, interdisciplinary learning communities, etc.
  • Maintain required office and campus hours.
  • Assist with Department duties as requested.
  • Participate in annual program assessment efforts.
  • Assist with maintaining student compliance.
  • Develop and evaluate curriculum based on stakeholder needs and regulatory requirements; recommend changes as appropriate.
  • Teach Phlebotomy courses, including didactic, lab, and clinical components.
  • Support the development and launch of a Medical Assistant program, including curriculum design, course development, and alignment with MAERB standards.
  • Provide student grades and feedback in a timely manner.
  • Maintain professional interaction and relationships with college and clinical partners.
  • Collaborate with the Department Chair, faculty, and staff to support program approval, accreditation readiness, and ongoing compliance.
  • Contribute to building and maintaining clinical partnerships for phlebotomy and Medical Assistant programs.
  • Support oversight and coordination of Medical Assistant program delivery, including potential satellite or off-site offerings, in alignment with accreditation standards, departmental standards, and student success outcomes.
  • Participate in the exploration and development of additional Health Sciences pathways as needed.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Support students and clinical assignment coordination in Phlebotomy and Medical Assistant programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate student clinical skill requirements and performance in alignment with program and accreditation standards.
  • Support practicum coordination for the Medical Assistant program, including assisting with clinical site selection, student placement, and tracking of student progress in alignment with MAERB standards.




REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting, Allied Health, or a related field from a nationally accredited institution.
  • Credentialed in medical assisting, current, and in good standing through an organization whose credentialing exam is accredited by NCCA, ANSI, or ISO (CMA preferred).
  • Experience teaching Phlebotomy and/or Medical Assisting.
  • Current or recent clinical experience in phlebotomy sufficient to supervise and evaluate student performance in the lab and clinical settings.
  • Experience with curriculum development, program development, or accreditation processes.
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in teaching and knowledge of MAERB core curriculum content in assigned areas supported by education or experience in the content area and documented training in instructional methodology (e.g., workshops, in-service sessions, seminars, or college coursework in learning theory, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology, or assessment techniques).
  • Currently possess or be able to obtain a Career Technical Education Endorsement in the Health Sciences and Medical Assisting Pathway.
  • Committed to creating an inclusive learning and work environment with an ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to effectively navigate relevant technology, including online learning systems, clinical tracking systems, and office software.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association.

PREFERRED QUALIFCIATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program; Master's Degree preferred.
  • BLS Instructor Certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Previous teaching experience in highereducation or Career and Technical Education (CTE).
  • Teaching experience including skills-based testing and assessment.
  • Demonstrated administrative and supervisory experience.
  • Experience with data collection and reporting.
  • Meets or is eligible to meet MAERB qualifications for Medical Assisting Program Director (see CAAHEP Standards for Medical Assisting, Section III.B.1).





SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Salary Range: Anticipated salary range: $52,880.78 - $73,949.65 annually. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
