Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research and Strategic Initiatives, this position will support NCSSM's institutional Data Analytics program through information analysis, report and visualization design, data quality control, research, and advisory assistance on strategic areas of high importance to the executive leadership of the school, divisions, campuses, and programs. The business intelligence & data analyst will work with cross-divisional teams including data owners, stewards, architects, and content area experts to build and maintain internal and public-facing data dashboards and datasets to increase and improve the use of data in decision-making processes and to generate insights to improve the effectiveness of the institution to support student success. The analyst will participate as key personnel with the Director and in collaboration with Enrollment Services and IT in developing and implementing the NCSSM Data Analytics program and data governance strategies across multiple programs (NCSSM-Durham, NCSSM-Morganton, NCSSM-Online and NCSSM-Open Enrollment) with faculty and staff in two locations (Durham, Morganton). This position will be located at the new NCSSM-Morganton campus and will serve as a representative of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness on the Morganton campus with institution-wide duties and responsibilities.

35% Data Dashboard Design and Maintenance

Designs, builds, and maintains dashboards and visualizations using Tableau products for end users, internally and externally. The analyst will work closely with the Director, Research and Assessment Specialist, Data Architect, Data Stewards/Owners, and the Webmaster to design and publish dashboards related to a number of student success, business process, and strategic initiatives.

30% Data Analytics Leadership

Independently conducts statistical analyses of current and historic school-wide data, identifies trends, and develops projections that inform planning and strategic decision-making for NCSSM using statistical (SAS, R, Python etc.) tools and programming. Consult on data analytics projects with a variety of institutional stakeholders with a customer service orientation and with particular focus to serving the needs of Morganton campus personnel.

15% Compliance and Standards Reporting

Work within Institutional Effectiveness and with other departments that report official records to external organizations (HR, Finance, Advancement) to ensure accurate and efficient reporting of institutional data.

10% Communications and Training

Train and collaborate with faculty, administration, and staff related to the major duties of this position. Edit and format reports and data visualizations for a wide variety of audiences.

10% Support for Data Governance Priorities

Support the Director and other key personnel in developing and implementing data governance strategies and policies throughout the institution.
